Alecia's Inclusive Band-A-Thon
For this task, I created a fully fledged, step by step plan for a concert/Band-A-Thon that focuses specifically on cultural musics, identity, ability, and celebrating ourselves. This plan uses culturally responsive practices, community music, and music therapy frameworks to celebrate the music, culture, and practices of the students who make up our school community.

Crystal's Cutting An Album Actionable Project
|
|
This project was created to encourage reflection upon socio-cultural differences. The objective is to inspire creativity, gain awareness, understand and respect cultures outside 'the norm'. I have included the unit framework to begin to cultivate ways music education could look within and beyond our schools and communities.

Shuai's Zoom Recital--Promote Multiple Musical Identities
This project intends to invite the students to create a digital composition representing an individual's musical identities. They will use the Digital Audio Workspaces, such as Soundtrap, to record, use pre-recorded loops, mix, manipulate and compose their own songs (Hein, 2017; Soundtrap, 2018). The final work will present in the zoom recital.
The purpose is to explore possibilities to adopt an inclusive method in private music lessons To enhance the decolonization and multiple identities concepts by offering a broad range of music, contextualizing the music and “introducing multiple musical epistemologies” (Hess, 2014) To explore possibilities to adopt a digital method to have positive and open dialogues that invite students to express themselves musically and orally. ***This statement approves the use of this plan for other teachers outside of the author From Private Music School to Community Allahyar Vazirov, 2020 With today's growing demand of unconventional and alternative music education practices our institutions are facing many challenges and one of the most acknowledged are cultural diversity, inclusion and their interrelationships. More specifically, on a larger scale the lack of communication and the lack of preparedness for students, teachers and school administration in the private music education sector across North America is present. The importance of acquiring knowledge concerning this skill set is essential for students, teachers and institutions. In addition, another important point of the purpose is to eliminate the danger of private schools becoming another type of packaged commodification product in the field of music education. ***This statement approves the use of this plan (project) for other teachers/facilitators outside of the author's own |
